KRTU Radio Station

A KRTU Membership is your passport to jazz, and to the San Antonio arts community. In addition to exclusive concert experiences, individuals who make an annual donation have the opportunity to select limited edition gifts that help jazz aficionados share his and her KRTU pride around town and beyond.

Many of our premium gifts will look familiar this fall – in part because we want you to have an opportunity to pick up something cool that you may have missed in the past. Our logo‐branded baseball caps and aluminum water bottles will be available once again, in addition to a hot new shirt design.

Our KRTU Members who renewed and joined during the 2015 spring fundraising campaign, were introduced to our “KRTU Live 2014” album. A compilation of original compositions recorded by KRTU at events during our 2014 concert season, the album presents outstanding performances by local and regional musicians who represent their own unique styles of modern jazz. In 2014, KRTU presented over 40 concerts at venues across the city. Events took place at Artpace, the McNay Art Museum, Trinity University’s Laurie Auditorium, and KRTU’s own Studio B. Many KRTU Members are part of these recordings, as audience members at the performances. The album opens with San Antonio’s own 16‐piece juggernaut Primetime Jazz Orchestra and concludes with a solo piano piece from pianist, composer and KRTU host Aaron Prado. The order of tracks speaks to the variety we hear not only from local musicians, but from the music presented daily on 91.7 FM. With the sounds of bebop, Brazilian, soul, funk, straight‐ahead, swing and progressive jazz, there’s something for everyone on “KRTU Live 2014”:

  1. The Primetime Jazz Orchestra ‐ Innervation
  2. Johnny P & the Wise Guys ‐ Blue Rain
  3. Zarabande ‐ Bebe
  4. The Jeff Lofton/Kory Cook Quartet ‐ NOLA Beat
  5. Doc Watkins Trio ‐ Daddy Long Legs Blues
  6. Mente Clara ‐ Wanderlust
