Based on Willie Dixon's quote "Blues are the roots and everything else are the fruits," this week we'll hear some of the earliest blues recordings to classic cuts and the relationship between blues and jazz from important African-American contributions in music.

International Sister City Jazz Ensemble - LIVE BROADCAST

The creation of a Sister City International Jazz Band is an innovative project for Musical Bridges Around the World's 5th International Music Festival, KRTU host Aaron Prado will lead an ensemble of musicians from San Antonio sister cities, including: Saxophonist Shlomi Kohen (Tel Aviv, Israel); guitarist Prasanna (Chennai, India); Mexican guitarist Oscar Zensei Gonzalez and bassist Vico Diaz; Benito Cabrera, Tiple player (Canary Islands); saxophonist and flutist Anke Schimpf (Darmstadt, Germany), jazz pianist Sonoda Tomoko (Kumamoto, Japan) and other accomplished, versatile musicians from San Antonio Sister cities: Windhoek (Namibia), Gwangju (South Korea), Kaohsiung (Taiwan) and Wuxi (China). Click here for more information...
