KRTU interns help staff complete essential tasks, put in many hours on-air and work on independent projects. A group of creative, caring and smart individuals, we're grateful for the valuable contribution that our Fall 2017 interns have made this past semester:

Constantine Kouldukis, a business major from Washington, completed his third semester as Development Intern - helping the Director of Development with vital tasks like donor communication, reconciliation and helping plan the station's end-of-year giving campaign. He enjoys conversations with KRTU Members: "Many mention a song or band that KRTU introduced to them, or how a particular on-air host never fails to brighten their day. All share a genuine love for the station - one that I am proud to help facilitate."

One of our two San Antonio natives, Alejandro Esparza has listen to KRTU his entire life and credits the station for developing an early passion for jazz. He is excited to start serving as Student Jazz Manager in January, "I am looking forward to working with the intern team and staff to bring wonderful music to the community." As a senior majoring in music, Alejandro feels that his experience as an intern at the radio station has helped him developed the confidence to pursue a future in music journalism and composition.

John Morgan is currently our longest-serving KRTU Intern, joining the team during the second semester of his first year at Trinity University. As the Student Manager for Indie Overnight, John curates music for the 10 p.m. to 5 p.m. alternative format and coordinate with volunteer hosts; he also maintains and facilitates new relationships with community partners. "As a senior majoring in music, I appreciate the insight that working at KRTU has provided me into the music industry... [and] I have connected with future employers who will help me get to the next step in my career."

Our newest intern joined the team for the summer term and has expanded his role as Promotions Intern, primarily working with Station Manager Monica Reina. Thomas Van Zandt Johnson is proud of his contribution toward underwriting - producing on-air promotional spots for clients and helping manage Indie Overnight's social media presence. "There are many benefits to working at KRTU. Every day I get to work with music, which has always been my greatest passion.... I am learning skills at KRTU that will be crucial to my future plans."

It goes without saying that our interns keep the staff on our toes. We’re thankful for the energy they bring to KRTU’s operations, demonstrating daily the cross-generational appeal of music, radio and jazz.

KRTU is a leader in commercial-free, listener-supported radio specializing in diverse music programming that is locally-curated and showcases regional musicians, with a focus on community outreach and education.
