ARTS San Antonio presents Eddie Palmieri and his Latin Jazz Septet on Saturday, November 18, 2017 - 7:30 p.m. at Laurie Auditorium on The Trinity University Campus.
Known as one of the finest pianists of the past 50 years, Eddie Palmieri is a bandleader, arranger and composer of salsa and Latin jazz. His playing skillfully fuses the rhythm of his Puerto Rican heritage with the complexity of his jazz influences: Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner as well as his older brother, Charlie Palmieri.
As he completes his 80th year, his energy and commitment seem to be increasing, fully emphasizing the power of not just the music but also the cross-cultural importance of the process. With no sign of slowing, Mr. Palmieri is the elder of a global culture of musicians, actively teaching young students and leading the way for the next generation(s).
