The KRTU Spring Membership Drive, a week-long on-air, phone-a-thon style fundraising drive will kick off Friday, March 31st and run through Friday, April 7th.
KRTU is an essential part of life in San Antonio and listener-support is an essential part of KRTU. As a non-profit, mission-driven radio station, donations from individuals play a vital role in the continued success and growth of KRTU. Last fiscal year, donations from individuals accounted for 62% of our operating budget!
KRTU also receives operational support from Trinity University and through underwriting form local businesses and organizations.
The Spring Membership Drive is the culmination of a six month fundraising cycle that focuses on encouraging listeners of the station to make a financial contribution, and is one of two on-air membership drives each year. Donors who make a minimum annual contribution receive KRTU Member benefits which include exclusive access to special concert events.
Almost 1600 individuals make up the KRTU Member base, which is part of a vibrant community which also includes six full-time staff, one part-time staff, six student interns from Trinity University, forty Department of Communication students each year, innumerous local musicians and artists, and over forty volunteer on-air hosts. This Spring Membership Drive, we have a goal of generating $30,000 in donations during the eight day drive, in addition to direct mail solicitation totaling $85,000 between December 1, 2016 through May 31, 2017.
The on-air membership drives are the best time for KRTU Members to make a donation to the station because they are the least expensive way for KRTU to reach supporting listeners, which increase the impact of each financial gift received.
