KRTU is happy to announce a new media partnership with the Rivard Report for its homegrown educational program, the "South Texas Jazz Project."

The South Texas Jazz Project (STJP) is an initiative of KRTU that has been archiving the work of local musicians since 2009 and presenting it during bi-weekly on-air programs by the same name Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 5 p.m. Programs have included in-studio interviews as well as recordings from live concert events like the "Rooftop Jazz" series, pictured above. STJP has profiled over 100 artists, including Jim Cullum, Spot Barnett, Joan Carroll, Pierre Poree, Ephraim Owens, Armin Marmolejo, Gabriel Santiago, The Kashmere Stage Band and Jackie King.

The South Texas Jazz Project is an example of the type of locally curated, mission-driven programming that defines KRTU - a listener-supported station founded by Trinity University students in 1976. So, a nonprofit, independent media outlet like the Rivard Report makes a perfect partner in promoting STJP. As Robert Rivard, Founder & Publisher of the Rivard Report, shares:

We are excited about partnering with KRTU this year in support of their jazz programming. As an independent, nonprofit media organization ourselves, we appreciate KRTU’s mission of preserving diverse and locally curated jazz for our community.

The media partnership seeks to strengthen each organization and introduce new audiences to content of interest. From local news to local jazz, the Rivard Report and KRTU share a common focus: San Antonio.

The online news source was founded in February 2012 by journalist Robert Rivard and his wife Monika Maeckle. Since then, they have received recognition for their reporting of issues important to the region. With a wide-reaching audience, their passionate and dedicated writers cover a range of topics including business, culture, cuisine, arts and entertainment. ...Jazz archives anyone?
