KRTU updates and plans regarding COVID-19

Your source for updates regarding KRTU programming, events, and operations.

We remain committed to our community, providing the very best experience both on-air and in our community. We care for our listeners and supporters, and we want to always provide a safe environment for all who visit. In this time of uncertainty surrounding social gatherings and COVID-19, wellbeing remains our highest priority for our students, staff, hosts, visitors, volunteers, and listeners.

KRTU Remains Committed to the Community

Dear KRTU Family,

As a non-commercial educational radio station, it is our mission to serve the community. Since 1976, we have been here at 91.7 FM, supporting San Antonio with great jazz and independent music. During these challenging times, you can rest assured that we will be here for you, 24-hours a day, seven days week -- all year long.

Our commitment to you and our community is that we will continue to provide the best music programming possible, and when you need a bit of respite, know that you can count on us at 91.7FM.

Recently, we heard from a few community members who shared their appreciation for KRTU and the role we play in our community.

“Just dropping you a note to tell you KRTU is helping me get through the day feeling sane…. KRTU is doing its part to keep us going! Thank you and your team.”

"In the face of a global pandemic, it would be easy to dismiss the work that KRTU does as “non-essential”. I would disagree. Tuning in this afternoon reminded me that I am part of a community, that there is consistency amidst the craziness, and that music (and art, etc) means and will continue to mean so much to me and to all KRTU listeners. Tuning in to KRTU felt like coming home. You are providing an invaluable service to the San Antonio and Trinity communities, just by continuing your great work.”

Thank you for supporting KRTU and being an inspiration. We’re here for you.

KRTU Partnered and Sponsored Events

KRTU is cancelling the partnered events for March and April due to COVID-19

Please note that all KRTU partnered events for March and April have been canceled. If you currently have an event that has been postponed or canceled and you are currently running underwriting on KRTU for your event, please contact Monica at mreina@trinity.edu. Underwriting will continue on KRTU with no interruption.

KRTU Core/Specialty Programming

KRTU is placing all volunteer programs on hiatus due to COVID-19

KRTU will be sounding a little different these days, with fewer voices on air than you’re accustomed to hearing. Out of respect for the wellbeing of our many community hosts we’re minimizing live/hosted programs. Please know KRTU is committed to the music and to serving our community with quality, educational programming.

The station will continue automated programming 24 hours a day with core programming, including Early Bird Jazz, Morning Session, Jazz Break at Noon, the Evening Beat, and the South Texas Jazz Project

KRTU On-Air Membership Drive Suspended

KRTU is suspending the Spring Membership Drive due to COVID-19
