Jim Cullum Hosts the Jazz Break at Noon
Bandleader and trumpeter Jim Cullum joins Kory Cook on-air for a special week-long Jazz Break at Noon feature February 6 – 10.

From February 6th through the 10th, world renowned jazz musician Jim Cullum will join KRTU Music Director Kory Cook for a special week-long Jazz Break at Noon feature. The two explore the music that Jim Cullum, Jr. grew up listening to, share stories about the musicians, and hear music from some of the most important bandleaders in swing. 

Jim Cullum is a jazz trumpet player and leader of the renowned San Antonio-based Jim Cullum Jazz Band, who performed regularly at The Landing on San Antonio’s Riverwalk from 1963 to 2011. The Jim Cullum Jazz Band has also enjoyed success in Europe, Latin America, and all across the United States, playing the classic jazz associated with artists like King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, and Jelly Roll Morton.

The Jazz Break at Noon is a regular weekday program on KRTU 91.7 FM in which Kory Cook delves into the work, influence, and inspiration of a major figure, group, or movement in the world of jazz.
