Dewey & Joshua Redman - Father & Son of the Saxophone

Dewey Redman was an American jazz saxophonist, known for performing free jazz as a bandleader. Redman played mainly tenor saxophone, though he occasionally doubled on alto saxophone, played the Chinese suona (which he called a musette) and on rare occasions played the clarinet. His son is saxophonist Joshua Redman. The younger Redman won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition in 1991, and began focusing on his musical career then, after previously being accepted to Yale Law School. Joshua was signed by Warner Bros. Records and issued his first self-titled album in the spring of 1993, which subsequently earned him his first Grammy Award nomination. In 2015, he received his third Grammy nomination for his solo on "Friend or Foe" from the album The Bad Plus Joshua Redman.
